Poland Travel Information


Poland Flag Poland is a country in eastern Europe. It has land borders with Belarus. the Czech Republic. Germany. Lithuania. Russia (specifically the Russian exclave of the Kalinigrad Oblast). Slovakia, and Ukraine, as well as a coastline on the Baltic Sea.

The population of Poland, as of 2010, was estimated at 38,163,895. Approximately 1.7 million people live in the country's capital and largest city, Warsaw, with around 3.3 million living in the Warsaw metropolitan area.

Economically speaking, Poland is one of the most successful of the post-Communist countries of Europe. The country has made a successful transition from a centrally planned economy to a market economy, and has experience high GDP growth, even in the teeth of the late 2000s worldwide recession. Poland is today a member of the European Union, and plans the join the eurozone and adopt the euro currency within the next few years.
