Mexico Travel Information
Mexico (Spanish: México), known in full as the
United Mexican States (Spanish: Estados Unidos Mexicanos),
is a country located in the North American continent, lying
to the South of the United States of America.
Apart from the USA in the North, Mexico
also has southern land borders with Belize
and Guatemala.
The country has two coastlines, the East coast lying on the Caribbean
Sea and the Gulf of Mexico, and the West coast touching the Pacific
Ocean including the Gulf of California.
As of
2007,
Mexico's estimated population was 108,700,891, making it the most
populous Spanish-speaking nation in the world.
About 19.2
million people live in Mexico's largest city,
Greater Mexico City (Spanish: Zona Metropolitana de Valle de México),
which is in fact the most populous city in the western hemisphere, and second
most populous in the world (after Tokyo, Japan),
as well as being the site of Mexico's
national capital.
Mexico also includes many other cities, including nine with population over
1 million, and over seventy cities with populations of more than 100,000
people.
