Iceland Flag Iceland (Icelandic: Ísland) is an island country located in the North Atlantic to the North of mainland Europe.

As of 2009, the population of Iceland was estimated as being 317,593. The country's capital and largest city is Reykjavk, which, as of 2008, had an estimated population of 120,165 people in the city itself, and 201,847 people in the combined city and metropolitan area.
